Corvallis Cardigan
Errata August 8th:
Under Raglan Yoke Shaping the last set of directions should read: Next, work row 3 one time. Then you will move to the “Repeat rows 2 and 3 X(XX…) times.” A new pdf. is available and should be downloaded if you have purchased the pattern between 8/5 and 8/8.
About the Pattern: The Corvallis Cardigan is suitable for beginning knitters. If you have yet to knit your first sweater, this is the pattern for you. The instructions are very detailed and clearly written.
The pattern is knit from the top down and there are no seams. The button row is knit as you work which means there are only a very minimal amount of stitches to be picked up at the underarm.
Skills Required: Casting on, Increasing (KFB), Decreasing (k2tog), picking up stitches, knitting in the round, binding off, and attaching buttons
Materials needed:
• Size US7 or 8 Knitting needles, (or size you need to obtain gauge). For sizes 1-3 you will need a 24” cable needle or longer. For all other sizes you will need a 32” cable needle or longer.
• Size US5 or 6 knitting needles, or whichever needles are 2 sizes smaller than those you used to obtain the patterns gauge.
• 4 Stitch markers
• Scrap yarn or stitch holders
• Tapestry needle
• 10-15 5/8 size buttons, or toggle buttons
• 475 (525, 575, 650, 750, 800, 850) yards of the suggested yarn. These yardage amounts are estimates. It’s always a good idea to buy more than you think you will need. When in doubt – buy the extra skein!
If you choose to use a coordinating color for the trim, plan to use approximately 1oz (50 yards) for size 1-3 and 2ozs (105 yards) for sizes 4-7. These amounts are calculated into the estimated yardage requirements given.
