Cosy Hot Water Bottle cover
The pattern for this removable knitted cover uses lacy textures for the body, to allow heat to easily pass through whilst preventing direct contact between skin and hot surfaces. A strand of mohair provides softness.
All knitting is done on straight needles with minimal sewing up. Row-counting can be done visually, making it an easy but highly satisfying knit for advanced knitters and a not-too-daunting challenge for intermediates.
Tension
The pattern has built-in stretchability to fit a standard 1- or 2-litre rubber hot water bottle when knitted with a variety of yarns on 6.5 mm needles (US 10.5).
Yarn
3 complementary colours: 1 x 50 gram ball of mohair; 2 x 50 gram balls of 4-ply yarn.
African Expressions Love is a bulky mohair mix that combines well with 2 strands of 4-ply or alternatively, you can use 1 strand of Double Knit.
You’ll need just under 100 m of each yarn.
The colour of the mohair tends to dominate the finished piece. Choose your 4-ply colours to blend with the mohair and the complement the colour of the hot water bottle.
