Cosy Rain Socks
I love rainy days! There is just something so cosy and lovely about snuggling up in a comfortable chair with a hot beverage and some knitting or a book. Listening to the rain’s pitter patter on the windowsill, knowing that you are snug inside. The Cosy Rain socks were made with these days in mind, warm, fun and cosy for your rainy day stay-ins. Or if you have to go out, to wear in your wellies to keep your feet nice and toasty!
Finished and blocked socks measure:
Length of the foot: approx. 23 cm/9”.
Circumference: approx. 21 cm/8,3”.
Size can be adjusted by using smaller or larger sized needles or by adding or removing some rows.
The pattern specifies the yarns I have used, but any sock yarn of the same weight (100gr = 425 meters/465 yards or 50 g = 210 meters/230 yards) will work fine. Go crazy with the colours!
Approximate weight needed (if sticking to gauge):
• MC: 45 g
• CC1: 20 g
• CC2: 15 g
• CC3: depends on if you knit or sew duplicate stitches. If you DS it’s about 3-4 meters (10-13 feet). If you knit it’s about 10 g.
Duplicate stitching can be used instead of knitting in the parts with the umbrella handles. This is explained further in the pattern.
Pattern is written for magic loop, but double pointed needles work as well if you prefer that, just make sure to make necessary adjustments.
Pattern is available in English and Swedish.
Techniques used: Corrugated ribbing, Forethought/Peasant Heel, Stranded Colourwork, Kitchener Stitch, Duplicate Stitch.
The pattern has links to my accompanying videos on Youtube which explain some of the technical aspects of the work (in English with English or Swedish subtitles): How to work with magic loop, how to sew the kitchener stitch, how to sew the duplicate stitches.
