The scarf pattern came about because I wanted to design a chunkier, more crochet-y scarf that would still be lightweight to wear in sunny Southern California. I was able to do this by combining a textured stitch with the open squares of filet crochet. The textured stitch is a special stitch I designed that is done in the row below the working row.
