Cotton Comfort Bear
This pattern can be found on pages 102-108 of Knitting Green: Conversations and Planet-Friendly Projects, by Ann Budd with contributions from some of the knitwear industry’s leading designers.
Few things comfort like a huggable teddy bear, especially one with a heatable pouch in the belly to soothe tummy aches. Michele Rose Orne knitted this bear and its removable sweater out of organic cotton, grown and processed without the use of agri-chemicals, bleach, or dyes, and filled it with a microwaveable pouch of natural rice. Michele knitted the bear from top of head down to the feet; she picked up stitches and knitted the arms downward to the paws. The head is stuffed and the face is added with buttons and embroidery.
