I tend to make a distinction between dishcloths and facecloths. To my mind, the dishcloth is knit from heavier cotton and will withstand the abuse of dishwashing and appliance wiping in the kitchen. Facecloths, on the other hand, are made from finer cotton or cotton blends and have a more lacy appearance. Many people use them to give as gifts along with some fancy soaps or to put on the vanity. If made in a soft cotton yarn, they are wonderful to use as a facecloth. Henry’s Attic Alpine Cotton Petite is a good cotton yarn that works well for this facecloth. It only comes in natural but becomes whiter with each washing.
