Cotton Eye Jo Cowl
When I was at school, a long while ago, we had a singing lesson each week and our teacher had a fondness for the song, ‘Cotton Eye Jo,’ which kept playing in my head as I was choosing the yarn for this cowl, James C Brett Cotton On DK. The song kept replaying as I knitted the cowl different times in different colour ways and so ‘Cotton Eye Jo’ it became.
The chosen yarn is a cool and comfortable cotton mix blended with acrylic for wearability.
The coordinating pattern blocks can all be completed with a beginner’s knowledge of only Knit and Purl stitches and the cowl is versatile in its wearing length.
It is also satisfying to knit as progress is marked by the changing colours/patterns.
Please note that whilst the pattern is knitted on 5mm needles, the gauge is checked on 4mm needles.
