Cotton Knit Sunhat with Crocheted Edging
NOTE: Round 3 of the decrease rounds for the ruffled brim should read K3, K2tog for size 0-3 months instead of K4, K2tog. Customers have been sent an email to download the updated version and the old version has been replaced.
Cotton yarns are wonderful for creating this adorable little girl’s sunhat. Suggested yarns are Bernat’s Cottontots (for a little fluffy soft texture) or Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Cotton” (for a very soft and smooth look and feel).
This is a great little project for a knitter with experience knitting in the round. It knits up in no time at all!! Are you just beginning to knit? This hat is very basic - using only a knit stitch and k2tog (knit two stitches together). To add a finished edge, create a round of single crochet around the ruffled brim and the flower. Single crochet is also very basic, and videos may be found on the Internet giving instructions on crochet stitches.
