-Casting on and binding off in the round
-Knitting in the round with circular needles or DPNs
-Knitting sts together through the back loop
-Slipping sts
-Stranded colorwork and reading colorwork charts
-2 × 2 Ribbing
-Yarn over

Materials
Yarn
Little Skein, Cashmere Blend (70% merino wool, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon; 420 yards/384 meters per
115-gram skein): 1 skein MC, 1 skein CC.
Size 1 (purples) shown in MC Miss Lavender Lewis and CC in Marilla.
Size 2 (cream and brown) shown in MC Queen Anne’s Lace and CC in Golden October.
OR
Any sport- or fingering-weight yarn with which you achieve gauge (includes ~10% overage):
MC (pattern background): Size 1, 181 yards/165 meters; Size 2, 245 yards/224 meters
CC (rabbits): Size 1, 101 yards/92 meters; Size 2, 149 yards/136 meters

Needles and Notions
Gauge is calculated from larger needle; use needle size needed to obtain gauge.
US 2/2.75 mm: 16-inch (40.5-cm) circular for working in the round or DPNs
US 3/3.25 mm: 16-inch (40.5-cm) circular for working in the round or DPNs
Stitch marker to mark BOR (and more to indicate chart reps if desired)
Yarn/darning needle to weave in loose ends

Gauge
28 sts and 32 rounds = 4 inches/10 cm on (larger) gauge-size needles in stranded pattern in the round after
blocking.

Sizes
Size 1: circumference 23 inches/58 cm, length 9 inches/23 cm

Size 2: circumference 25 inches/64 cm, length 11 inches/ 28 cm

To increase the circumference of the cowl, increase your stitch count by 16 sts (1 chart rep). You could also choose the chart with more or fewer rounds than your selected size suggests. However, any of these modifications would change the required amount of yarn.
