A quick knit and cozy staple to add to your hand-knit wardrobe. An oversized, cropped, high-low split hem sweater with V-neck shaping and wide, about 3/4 length sleeves. Body and sleeve lengths are easily adjustable, and the amount of ease written into the design (along with the construction) allows for flexibility in choosing a size, as well as options for customization, including working different sizes for the body and sleeves.

  • Level: Adventurous Beginner
  • Skills to know: Cast on, slip, knit/ktbl, purl, yarn over, work flat and in the round, k2tog/k2togtbl/ssk decreases, pick up and knit for sleeves, 3-needle bind off, standard bind off, mattress stitch for seaming
  • Needles & notions: US size 10 (6mm) needles or as needed to achieve gauge - 24-40”+ circulars recommended, along with desired circular needles for sleeves and a spare needle for 3-needle BO, removable stitch markers, BOR marker, waste yarn/cable to place stitches on hold, pins for blocking, and a tapestry needle. Optional but helpful: blocking mats and knit blockers

Yardage will vary depending on your yarn, gauge, and if you modify the pattern. You’ll want to choose a yarn/combo that gives a nice drape when blocked. Aside from the combo used for the sample, which I LOVE, silk, bamboo, alpaca, or linen/blends would be great options!

This pattern is written for 11 sizes, ranging from 46-82 in/117-208.5 cm finished body.
Recommended ease: 12-16 in/30.5-40.5 cm positive ease in the body and 4-6 in/10-15 cm positive ease in the sleeves. The sample shows size 3, worn with 16 in/40.5 cm positive ease in the body and 4 in/10 cm positive ease in the sleeves. Schematics with measurements included in the product photos.

Stockinette stitch - 12 sts/19 rows
Worked flat using US size 10 (6mm) needles, and measured after blocking.

As always, be sure to swatch so you can see what your finished fabric will look like - you’ll want to have a nice drape/weight for this project.

Note: All measurements are approximate and taken after blocking. Inches are rounded to the nearest 0.25 in and centimeters to the nearest 0.5 cm.
