This is a lovely-- and QUICK-- pattern for giving as a gift or charity item, as it fits a wide range of sizes and styles.

Worked in an easy-care acrylic or blend, it is an economical and practical gift, but the pattern adapts readily to luxury or handspun fibers and shows them off beautifully.

It is an excellent first in-the-round project on double-pointed needles (DPN), since it is begun worked back and forth (but can easily be adapted to work in the round-- just work garter stitch in the round). There are many photos to help you in the detailed pattern if you are tackling the hat as a first project on DPN’s. Please be sure that your DPN’s will accommodate enough stitches in the bulky yarn-- 7” or even 8” DPN.

s/m fits heads 16-23”
m/l fits heads 19-28”

Gauge isn’t terribly critical, as the hat is extremely stretchy.

Made in an Aran or Worsted yarn, the instructions will readily make a child’s hat.

If you prefer a tutorial or are new to knitting in the round, you may prefer the “detailed” rather than “minimal” version of the pattern. On the other hand, the “minimal” version will print on just two pages and use less printer ink as it contains few images.

If you like this pattern, please consider making a few extras to donate or sell as a fundraiser.

(I’ll add the more detailed instructional PDF later this week)
