Country Road sweater
In the spring of 2020, I decided to treat myself to some variegated, hand-dyed yarn. I found the Country Road, by ND Yarn Company, and I loved the colors. However, using variegated yarn in two color knitting proved difficult. Instead I decided to build the whole design around the Country Road colors and variation. The fairisle sections in this sweater are also reminiscent of roads, with their cross-roads, bends and turns.
The design is intended to be loose-fitting (positive bust ease of 15 cm / 6 inches) and either shaped as a swoncho, with wide armpits, or as a regular sweater. Both variants are described in the pattern.
Some advice on yarn selection
Start by finding a variegated yarn that you like. It works best if there are several, contrasting colors, not just nuances of one color. Then pick three one-colored yarns that pick up colors from the variegated yarn. CC1 should be a bright color and CC2+CC3 should be dark colors. If you prefer working with fewer colors CC2+CC3 can be the same.
