There’s debate if the Court of Love actually existed. It was first mentioned in a book by Andreas Capellanus called The Art of Courtly Love. He mentioned that it was started by Eleanor of Aquitaine, her daughter Marie, Emmengarde, Viscountess of Narbonne and Isabelle of Flanders in the Court of Poitiers. This was a quiet time in history for Eleanor following the crusades. It was a place for lovers to bring their questions to the court of highborn ladies for judgement while they promoted courtly love, troubadours and chivalry. It’s likely it if did exist it was simply parlor games for their entertainment.

Due to the texture, I recommend a lighter colored yarn that’s solid, lightly speckled, tonal or semi-solid that will show off the fine details.

Sizing: 1 (2,3) - which fits a foot circumference of 7-13 (7.5-14 inches, 8-15.5 inches) around.

Gauge: 8.5 stitches/inch using US 1 (2.25 mm) circular needle.

Yarn: 100 grams of fingering weight sock yarn

Cream: Regia Angora Merino in Cream - 65% Merino Wool, 25% Nylon, 10% Angora.

Blue Speckled: Lushknits Smooth Sock in Careless Whisper- 75% Wool, 25% Nylon - 463 yards

Needles: Size US 1 (2.25mm) circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge. 32 inch is recommended but use the size that is the most comfortable for you.
