Years ago, from the moment I saw Katniss Everdeen storm through the woods in a similar cowl - it was an instant inspiration to replicate it in crochet. I don’t think I actually saw the movie that day as I was totally consumed in thoughts and ideas on how to construct THAT… what ever you would call that thing she wore in the movie! It was rustic, stylish, armoristic ( I just made that a word ) but just overall bad’A$$ if you will.
Well, I’ve made many versions of it along the years and in my opinion, it will never go out of style. I’ve finally decided to write a version up for everyone to enjoy. This version offers great detail and texture. In addition to that, this design is more wearable, functional, and warm.
Once it’s complete there’s no front or back- you can wear it open to either the left or right.

This is an intermediate pattern, but a determined beginner can do it too. I have faith in you ;) Do not be intimidated…the stitches are the same basic stitches put in different places.
