Covert Operation
Important note: If you haven’t already purchased Morse Stitch Decoded you will need to do so in order to knit this shawl. Morse Stitch Decoded comes with three complementary patterns. Two are for cowls - Spy Ring and The Circus - the other is for this baby blanket. The net proceeds of the sale of Decoded will be donated to the charity Freedom From Torture.
Covert Operation is a wider-style triangular shawl knit in a morse stitch pattern that features individual bobbles against a stocking stitch background and which is finished with a simple but pretty border. The width makes it readily wearable both as a shawl or a scarf, the size being easily customised to suit your needs.
The original (purple) shawl was made with fingering weight yarn but the pattern would suit itself to any weight from light fingering (e.g. tosh merino light) through sport weight to DK or even worsted. The size is easily customised to suit your needs - just make sure you have sufficient yardage to suit your requirements.
Once you know how to knit morse stitch, you will probably find Covert Operation a relatively easy and quick knit as the pattern is very intuitive. But full instructions, including stitch counts, are given for those who, like me, like to check that they are on the right track.
