cowl against the wind
Cowl against the Wind is a mindless, relaxing, and fun knit for cold necks and the possibly cooped up knitter.
This super simple cowl is knitted flat from the bottom and up in mistake rib – a single pattern row for both sides.
The bottom of the cowl flares slightly. Shaping is accomplished with decreases over three consecutive Right Side Rows.
For an even ‘mindlesser’ cowl, skip the flare, and simply cast on the final stitch count and knit a rectangle.
Two to four tie cords are threaded into the open edges and tied to close the cowl for jaunty wear.
I have posted a photo tutorial for the tie-cords here.
(They’re fun for other projects, too!)
I recommend tying the ties for maximum rakish mileage. I haven’t. Test knitter has.
