The Cozy Cat Balaclava is a fun, stash busting pattern to spice up your pets look in the colder winter months. It works up quickly and is knit in the round from the front to the back using the magic loop method on circular needles. The pattern uses short rows, and wraps and turns to achieve all shaping in the hat.

This cozy cat balaclava measures un-stretched at a 10inch circumference around the front rib, and 11 inches around the middle of the hat and back rib. It is intended to be almost fitted but not a tight fit. Size can be adjusted by changing the yarn weight or needle size and comparing gauge.

Gauge: 6 sts by 9 rows for 1x1in or 2.5cmx2.5cm

This pattern is written for one strand DK yarn, OR one strand each of a Sport and a lace mohair yarn held together. 250 yards (of each if using 2 yarns) should be plenty, it’s about 1/2 the size of one adult sock.

You will also need circular needles size US4 (3.5mm), and US6 (4mm) both long enough to do magic circle (32inches or longer), stitch markers. If you like doing a crochet bind of, you will also need a 3.5mm crochet hook.

This pattern is intended for short term use on adult cats only under direct supervision, unless otherwise directed by your veterinarian.
