Cozy Crewneck Sweater
The Cozy Crewneck Sweater is a top-down men’s raglan designed with heavy worsted yarn, making it a cozy and warm staple for your winter wardrobe. You will start by knitting the collar ribbing, then shape the neckline with short rows while beginning the raglan increases. After the neckline is complete, you will continue increasing the yoke before separating the sleeves to knit the body. The sleeves are knitted last. The entire sweater is knitted in stockinette with thick, ribbed cuffs and a beautiful tubular bind off.
LANGUAGE & SKILL:
This is an advanced beginner knitting pattern, written in english with US terms. It is recommended that you have basic knowledge of knitting raglan sweaters and short rows before starting.
GAUGE:
14 sts x 20 rounds = 4x4” (10x10cm) square, knitted in the round in stockinette, unblocked.
SIZES:
Chest circumference: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62)“ / 76 (86, 96.5, 106.5, 117) (127, 137, 147) 158 cm
The pattern is designed with approx. 3-5” (7.5-12.75cm) of positive ease added to the chest measurements above. Schematic included in pattern.
YARN:
Heavy worsted/Aran weight (4) yarn. I used City Tweed Aran from KnitPicks (55% Merino Wool, 25% Superfine Alpaca, 20% Donegal Tweed) in the color Blue Blood.
Yards/Meters: approx. 720 (850, 980, 1130, 1260) (1390, 1540, 1640, 1790) yards / 660 (780, 900, 1030, 1150) (1270, 1400, 1500, 1640) meters including gauge swatch.
These yarn calculations are based on average size charts. If you make your sweater longer than suggested, you will need more yarn.
NEEDLES:
- US 9 (5.5mm) needles in 16-24” (40-61cm) circulars for the yoke and body, and DPNs or Magic Loop for sleeves.
