Cozy Fireside Cardigan
Winters in the Seaway Valley of northern New York are cold, with some nights dropping below -40°F without windchill. Once October hits, residents are pulling out thick, cozy sweaters to help fight the bitterness. This relaxed-fit, unisex cardigan was created with that in mind. The front features traditional cables to enhance the warmth, and the back is simple stockinette, providing a break from the cables as you knit. Pair this V-neck with a scarf to complete the perfect fireside look.

Notes
This cardigan is worked bottom up in pieces.
Saddle shoulder strips are worked as extensions at the tops of the sleeves after a partial bind-off; they are then used to connect the fronts to the back.
Stitches are picked up and knit in ribbing along fronts, saddle shoulders, and top of back for continuous collar/button band.
Openings are knit into the front panels for pockets, which are picked up and knit on the inside later, along with pocket trim, in finishing.
To make bobble (mb): (k, p, k, p, k) into the same stitch; (turn and knit across 5 sts) 3x, turn and k5tog.
Saddle width is 2.5”/6.5 cm for all sizes. Half of this width is added to the Front and Back lengths to reach the full body length.
