Inspired by quilts and the Scandinavian Nordic Star motif which is so popular in knitting and yoke sweaters. I wanted one for myself so put the crochet spin on it…This time though, we’re using an ultra winter friendly palette called the Cozy in Colorado Collection from Hue Loco The combination of quilt inspired squares meets the classic Scandinavian Star design—I can’t get enough of this blanket. Everything about it screams heirloom. It’s one for the ages— or those you love most :)

This pattern is worked up using the classic sunburst granny square and a solid granny square.

In this pattern I used the Cozy in Colorado Collection from Hue Loco Yarns. It’s a 100% SW Merino, (230yds/100g)-- (but any DK weight yarn will work), and joined with Snowshoe (an in stock semisolid also from Hue Loco) with a 4.5mm (size 7) hook.

Pattern includes all colours used and the yarn quantities as well as exact positioning. I include a Colour Chart with photos of the actual yarn so that you can find substitutes if you like the colour selection I chose for my blanket. My gift to you is taking the work out of colourwork!

The final blanket size was: Approximately 60 x 60 inches.

Pattern will include:

  • yarn amounts/quantities.
  • yarn colours.
  • stitch glossary.
  • printable pdf of blanket graph.
  • full colour chart of all squares and their positioning so you can make this EXACT colour copy!
  • full written instruction for the granny squares used (classic sunburst and solid granny square).
  • written tutorial for border.
  • video tutorials for the granny squares as well as the slip stitch method of assembling the squares.

Happy Crocheting Everyone!
