Cozy Little Cable Socks
Winter nights inside just got cozier. These cable socks give you texture and style with just a few cable rows. Optional mohair in the cuff, heels, and toes makes for warm feet, perfect for cuddling up on the couch.
This pattern is knit from the cuff down with a heel flap and gusset. The pattern includes both a chart and written instructions for the cable motif.
Yarn:
100g of any fingering weight sock yarn should be enough to knit two socks of any size, however, more may be needed for extra long socks in the larger sizes. Use whatever sock yarn you love most!
The mohair yarn is optional - feel free to leave it out, no modifications to the pattern are needed. You won’t need more than one 25g ball of mohair and it’s great for using up scraps!
Needles:
US size #1 (2.25 mm) 30’’ or longer circular needles for magic loop, or needles needed to get gauge.
Any sock knitting method (DPNs, 9’’ circulars) can be used but the pattern is written for magic loop method.
Gauge:
8 stitches = 1 inch in stockinette stitch, swatch MC.
Sizes:
Sizes S (M, L, XL) are for 7” (8”, 9”, 10”) (18 (20, 23, 25 cm) circumference socks. These socks are intended to use 0.5-1” (1.3-2.5 cm) of negative ease. Measure around the ball of the foot.
Notions:
Cable needle, scissors, 5 removable stitch markers, tapestry needle, a small crochet hook may be useful for picking up stitches.
Accessibility:
This pattern includes a full written pattern - large text version using 24 pt font - black and white cable charts - and fully written cable and chart instructions.
