The Cozy Patchwork Cardigan is designed with a beautiful blend of colors and textures, making it a unique and eye-catching piece. The pattern uses Drops Flora yarn in four stunning colors: beige, red, caramel, and misty forest. These colors come together in a striking patchwork design, giving the cardigan a modern and artistic flair.

This cardigan features a relaxed fit with an oversized look, making it perfect for layering over your favorite outfits. The extended half double crochet (ehdc) stitch creates a thick, cozy fabric, while the herringbone single crochet (hsc) stitch adds a touch of texture to the ribbing on the cuffs, bottom edge, and plackets. The cardigan also includes stylish button closures on the front, making it both functional and fashionable.

Notes

You will start by working the back panel, followed by left and right front panels, and sleeves, starting from the bottom and working up. Once the panels and the sleeves are complete, you will join them together by sewing the shoulders together and the sleeves and the body sides. You will finish by making a ribbing on the bottom edge and on the plackets.

This pattern uses intarsia crochet. Intarsia crochet involves using separate yarn bobbins or small balls for each color block, ensuring that yarn is not carried across the back of the work. Follow the color chart carefully and manage yarn changes neatly to maintain a clean finish.

At the end of each row ch 2 and turn.

Ch 2 doesn’t count as a stitch.

Working holding two strands of yarn. This is requirement, if you want to make the cardigan exactly as the pattern, because some color changes include holding one strand of one color and the second strand in a different color (A+B, A+C and A+D).

Odd numbered rows on the front and back panels are the RS.

Work with a 6 mm hook unless it says otherwise.

You will be working with ehdc: when instructions say “(B) x 7” it means 1 ehdc in the next 7 sts with yarn B.

Both sizes have a link to the “Progress Tracker” for easy to follow instructions.
