Bring some colour to your wintery home, by brightening up your plain hot water bottle with a bright and colourful striped cover. Pick a colour palette to suit your personality, and enjoy cosying up to your new favourite accessory this winter. Keeping warm never looked so good! Make them in a range of colours and gift to all your friends and family this Christmas.

The Cozy Stripes hot water bottle cover is designed to fit a standard two litre hot water bottle, worked from the top down using granny stitch clusters. A satisfyingly quick project that works up fast, this pattern is suitable for all abilities from confident beginners upwards. Written in English using US terminology, the pattern features some handy photos to illustrate the trickier parts of the pattern. You will need to be familiar with double and single crochet stitches, and working into the back and front post.

You will need:

  • approximately 250m of acrylic DK yarn, made up of ideally four colours. I used approx 85g of Stylecraft Special DK : 30g of the main colour, and 15-20g of the other colours for stripes.
  • a 3.5mm hook (or size required to achieve gauge)
  • stitch markers
  • 3 x 20mm buttons (optional)
