This pattern is Reversible, you can wear it either the right side up or the wrong side out, please see photos for details.

Inspiration Story:

Beginning of this year 2023 my life has shattered and everything started falling apart, all the strong foundations I have built in the past suddenly crumbled into pieces.

I felt drained like soil with no water.

More and more cracks kept appearing in my life dealing with trauma after abuse.

So I went onto researching pictures about cracked earth and designing a stitch pattern which resembles the cracks.

And this is how the Cracked Land Socks come to life.

Life sometimes isn’t easy but giving up is not an option.

Sometimes we all experience these little cracks in our lives, but with love, kindness, hope and hard work we can fill hose cracks back up and create a smoothly finished surface again.

If you look closer at the stitch pattern they also look like braided branches or little hearts.

Notes:
The sample socks are knitted cuff down in size 2 = 80STS to fit foot size 6UK/8US. Socks feature “Yarn Over short row heels” and toes are closed up with Kitchener stitch. Repeat stitch pattern runs through 8STS and 12RNDS; 8 stitches = 2cm width

Needles:
2.0mm (US 0) / 2.25 (US 1)
For samples used Chiaogoo 9inch circular needles in size 2.0mm. Tapestry needles to weave in the ends. If you wish to use 2.5mm (US 1.5) I recommend to size down.

Gauge:
40 STS / 56 Rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inch, knitted in the round in stockinette stitch and blocked => using 2.0mm (US 0) needles

Sizes:
1 (2) 3. Finished Sock circumference: 20 / 22 / 24cm ( 7.8 / 8.6 / 9.3 ) with roughly 1cm negative ease. Skeins of 100g sock yarn = 1 (1) 2 for 1 pair of socks.
