Cradle Cap (But in a Good Way)
This pattern was designed for the Pensacola Sacred Heart Hospital NICU as a charity drive for the 2011 World Wide Knit in Public Day. This hat will fit from the size of a small plum up to the size of a navel orange.
It has an eyelet row to allow for the addition of a decorative ribbon or to run elastic cording through to assist with keeping hats on tiny heads.
Easily made on DPN’s or magic loop circulars, this cap knits up quickly and is a great stash buster. A skein of baby weight yarn will yield approximately 4-6 caps depending on which size you make. From working with various NIC units I have found that they prefer all acrylic or acrylic/nylon blends as they are easier to launder and cause less allergy issues than those hats containing animal wools.
While this pattern is free, I ask that you not profit from the sale of this cap. This pattern is intended to benefit NICU units around the world. Please donate freely hats made from this pattern.
