Cragmore Vest
The Cragmore Vest is 20% off for the first week of publication. No coupon required. Sale ends at 12midnight AST on Friday January 31st
DETAILS
This is a lovely cabled vest that is worked partially flat (back and front worked separately to underarm) and then joined in the round to work the body. The collar and optional sleeve cuffs are picked up and added afterwards. Very simple cables – all charted for ease and clarity. The back panel is worked in ribbing for optimal contour & fit. Overall this is a very simple design and great for an adventurous beginner especially for those keen to try cable knitting.
This vest is meant to have -2 to +2” or -5 to +5 cm of ease for easy layering.
GAUGE
• 20 sts & 28 rows for 4”/10 cm in (p2, k3) rib.
• 24 sts & 28 rows for 4”/10 cm working the small cable.
• 22 sts & 28 rows for 4”/10 cm of blended stitch gauge (this incorporates all cables and ribbing for body portion of the pattern).
Do be sure to take your gauge from a swatch after wet blocking. My pre-blocked gauge was very different stitch gauge wise than after, the row gauge did not seem to move.
FIT & SIZE
• To fit the following finished bust measurements with -2 to +2” or -5 to +5 cm of ease. 33 (36, 40, 44, 49, 51, 55, 58, 60)” or 84 (91, 102, 112, 124, 130, 140, 147, 152) cm.
• As for length – it would be my recommendation that when going for a negative ease fit that you knit the vest shorter and to your natural waist for a cropped, shrunken vest look. But if you are going for a positive ease fit, you may wish to keep to your standard sweater length of high hip/hip.
• Sample 1 color black is in size 2 with approximately -2” or -5 cm negative ease and without sleeve cuffs.
• Sample 2 color pale grey/blue is in size 3 with approximately +2” or +5 cm of positive ease and with sleeve cuffs.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

• 1 needle size smaller than that for gauge for the hem.
• 2 needle sizes smaller than that for gauge for the collar and cuffs.
• Cable needle.
• 1 unique stitch marker for BOR and 3 for the collar, you might wish other stitch markers to mark pattern repeats for the front panel, tapestry needle and waste yarn or Barber cord.
