This is the 5th pattern designed for the 2013 hats for kids project. The completed sample is appropriate for a child in grades 2 thru 4. But the pattern is fairly simple to knit and is easily adjusted for a larger size.

The cast-on is in multiples of 8, but a M1 is needed before the 1st round of the simple chevron pattern so that the total number of stitches is in multiples of 9.
