Crayon Fade is a shawl with five corners, designed for those of us that enjoy knitting stockinette stitch in the round. The shawl is started from the center with Judy’s Magic Cast-on. You cast on several hundred stitches, and then work outwards. Increases are made is such spots that you achieve the shape that stays well on the shoulders. Colors are faded to obtain a smooth appearance.

Crayon Fade is the sibling of the Crayon Play shawl.

Approximate sizes after blocking:
Small: 166 cm/65 in wide and 51 cm/20 in deep
Medium: 183 cm/72 in wide and 58 cm/23 in deep
Large: 201 cm/79 in wide and 67 cm/26 in deep

The model shawl pictured is the small size. (The person holding it is 180 cm or 5’ 11” tall.)

Yarn:
either light fingering weight held as is,
or 2/28NM lace weight holding three strands together.
The model shawl used ColourMart Cashmere 2/28NM Lace Weight (2070 m/150 g) holding three strands together.
A light fingering weight yarn with about 460 m/100 g will match that.

In the model shawl color A is dark gray, color B is middle grey and color C is yellow.

Yardage
The yardages are calculated with the assumption that you will knit with light fingering weight yarn. If you knit with three strands of 2/28NM yarn, multiply the yardages below by three (but not the grams!)

Gauge:
23 sts and 34 rows per 10 cm blocked, but gauge is not crucial. However please note that a different gauge will lead to different yarn usage.

Needles:
3.25 mm (US 3) or the size you need to get correct gauge, a circular needle at least 120 cm (47 in) long. You can also use several slightly shorter (but not short!) circular needles.

Other supplies:
Five stitch markers, either all different or 3 + 2.

Crayon Fade on viisikulmainen, kaareva huivi, joka aloitetaan keskeltä ja neulotaan kohti reunoja. Huivi aloitetaan luomalla monta sataa silmukkaa käyttäen Judy’s Magic Cast-on -aloitusta. Sen jälkeen neulotaan ympäri huivin aloituskohdan lisäten samalla silmukoita muutamissa paikoissa, jotta saadaan aikaan hyvin harteilla pysyvä muoto. Väriä vaihdetaan liu’uttaen.

Lanka:
ColourMart Cashmere 2/28NM Lace Weight (2070 m/150 g) neulottuna kolminkerroin.
Jos haluat neuloa lankasi yksinkerroin, valitse light fingering -vahvuinen lanka, jonka juoksevuus on 690 m/150 g eli 460 m/100 g.

Mallihuivissa väri A on tummanharmaa, väri B keskiharmaa ja väri C keltainen.

Langanmenekki:
Langanmenekit on ilmoitettu sillä oletuksella, että käytät light fingering -vahvuista lankaa yksinkerroin. Jos käytät 2/28NM-vahvuista lankaa kolminkerroin, kerro alla olevat metrimäärät kolmella (muttei grammoja!)

Tiheys:
23 s ja 34 krs per 10 cm pingotettuna, mutta tiheydellä ei ole suurta merkitystä.

Puikot:
3,25 mm tai käsialan mukaan, vähintään 120 cm pitkä pyöröpuikko. Voit myös käyttää useampaa, hieman lyhyempää (muttei lyhyttä!) pyöröpuikkoa.
