A couple of years ago my son drew a picture of a striped shawl and said I should make one. I loved the color combination so much that I kept the picture and every now and then searched for perfect yarn that would have the same shades. A few of weeks ago I finaly decided to get the yarn, no matter what. The fact that I had been so slow was kind of embarassing already.
I got just the perfect shades and started knitting. I worked the shawl diagonally and one thing that I really wanted to maintain, was the hand-drawn look of the stripes. So I shaped the stripes with short rows and I think I got pretty close!
The shawl can be easily customized by working with different weights of yarn and with different kind of fibres. The sample is made in a summery linen-cotton blend but when using wool or alpaca, you’ll get a nice and warm shawl for chilly days.
The pattern includes a construction schematic and a photo tutorial for M1b increase.
