The pattern gives instructions for a scarf or cowl. There are written instructions and a chart.
Scarf: approx. 400m (440 yds)
Wider scarf: approx. 600m (660 yds)
Double loop: approx. 300m (330 yds)
Tall single loop: approx. 200m (220 yds)
The ripples are softer than zigzags and very simple to make - they can be as subtle or bright as you like.
The repeat is 24 rows, but you only pattern on 8 of them - the other 16 are “rest rows”; which I find is just the right balance between enough to do so you don’t get bored, and enough rest rows to keep it rhythmic and soothing.
The ripples are knitted on the bias and the bottom edge forms lovely soft ripples on an angle.
The pattern works well with long-striping yarn, but can also be effective with handspun, semi-solids or short-striping yarn.
