Crazy Yarn Zen Pillow
NOTE 1/18/2018: There has been some discussion on the weight of Stonehedge Mill Crazy yarn. I was told it was DK, then I saw on Stonehedge Mill’s Facebook Page that it is Sport. So I have updated my pattern page and the pattern. Since gauge is really not an issue with this pattern, please just enjoy knitting with this wonderful yarn and see what colorways emerge with the pattern.
SIZES:
• Pillow form (WxL) – 16 X 16 inches, 18 X 18 inches, or 14 x 20 inches
• Knitted piece finished (WxL) – 14 X 14 inches, 16 X 16 inches, or 12 x 36 inches
• Directions are for 16 X 16 inches size pillow. Changes for sizes 18 X 18 inches and 14 x 20 inches are in parentheses.
• NOTE: you can make the pillow any size by stopping increasing at the width or length needed for the finished piece before starting next section. Make knitted piece ~2 inches smaller than pillow form. For correct sizing, lay knitted piece against form to fit tightly but not overstretching. You can always stretch it out if needed during blocking. Better to be a little small than too big.
MATERIALS:
• 2 to 3 skeins of Stonehedge Fiber Mill Crazy Yarn (SPORT weight, 230 yards 210 meters, 75 grams) depending on pillow size (16 X 16 inches = 2 skeins, 18 X 18 inches or 14 x 20 inches = 3 skeins)
• Try to pick skeins that complement each other and have a common color that runs through both and both light and dark colors
• Size 6 (4.0mm), 16 inch length circular knitting needle
• Firm pillow form that is already covered in cloth in the size desired
• Size 6 crochet needle
• Darning needle
GAUGE:
• 24 sts = 4 inches; 32 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch
• NOTE: Gauge is not important since pillow is made by increasing to desired width.
