The shape of this shawl is an asymmetrical, elongated triangle, with a gently curving top edge that hugs your neck beautifully. This shawl is designed for you to let your imagination go with colors, size and even weight (DK, fingering held double to make DK, or fingering.)
Remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books from childhood? The story would magically unfold according to the choices you made as you went along, and it seemed like the possibilities were endless. This pattern is kind of like that - you choose what kind of shawl you want to create - everything from the weight of the shawl (DK or fingering) to the size. Not to mention the color choices! It’s almost like you have a box of crayons with infinite colors to choose from. You can do a fade or a solid main color.
And the eyelet stripes? The stripes can be all one color, or you can stripe 5 different colors. (This is a great time to use those gradient skeins you’ve been unsure of what to do with.) This design is an invitation to play, let your imagination run wild and truly create your own adventure!

24” to 32” circular needles between a size 6 and 8 for the DK version, and between a size 3 and 6 for the fingering weight version - whatever will produce a nice, not too stiff, not too loose, kind of drape-y shawl like fabric. You know what I mean.
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
APPROXIMATE GAUGES:
Exact gauge isn’t that important - it’s a shawl, after all
EXAMPLE: The Storyteller Yarn DK weight sample is fingering yarn held double and was knitted on size 7 needles and produced a gauge of 15 stitches and 27 rows = 4”/10 cm. after light blocking
EXAMPLE: The Invictus Yarns Fingering weight sample was knitted on size 4 needles and produced a gauge of 19 stitches and 29 rows = 4”/10 cm. after light blocking
