Creekside Shawl
If you have ever lived near a tree-lined creek you are undoubtedly aware of the wonderful sights and scents that pervade the area. This shawl was inspired by the beauty along the creek that runs through my backyard. The trail takes me past blackberry bushes and sprawling madrone trees down the slope toward the water. The canopy opens just a little as I arrive at the stony shore which finally gives way to the cool brisk running waterway. It looks so very inviting on a hot summer’s day!
This shawl is knitted from the top down in a triangular style and widened at first by four stitches every other (odd numbered) row. It is actually comprised of two triangles that form one big triangle connected by a center stitch that, with the assistance of the yarn-overs next to it, create an attractive eyelet center. A garter stitched border of three stitches runs the length of the shawl on both ends which make up the top border when complete. A leafy edging borders the bottom and a lacy I-cord completes the bottom.
Size is adjustable by more or fewer 10-stitch repeats.
As it stands now, the pattern is charted. I am writing the instructions for those of you who prefer them. I will upload them when they are complete so check back soon. ;-)
Although beads are not mentioned in the pattern, the more experienced knitter can add these at her/his whim.
