Light and airy, with a ruffle for your feminine side, the crescent shape of this shawl will allow it to stay on your shoulders or it can be wrapped around your body and pinned or belted for more warmth and a cute waist ruffle.

The shawl is knit from side to side in garter stitch (no purling required!) with the ruffle done in short rows as you knit. Two different colors of yarn are used and this can vary quite a bit. I prefer to have one semi-solid color and one with longer color variations but almost anything goes! You could also knit this pattern with handspun yarn or two different yarns (one solid single-ply and one variegated two-ply for instance).

22 sts & 42 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch on size 6 needles (unblocked). Gauge is not incredibly important for this pattern, but your shawl may have a slightly different measurement if the gauge is significantly different.
