This pattern is crocheted in the round from the top down, and begins with a foundation half double crochet starting chain for a good stretch. Requires crocheting in the “third loop” of the previous half double crochet round to create texture. There is a photo tutorial for this step. Sizes include, youth, teen/adult, and an extra large. Extra large is for curly or thick hair. I have used many different types of size 4/worsted weight, and they are not all the same thickness, so you can adjust the size to be slightly smaller or larger by using a hook either one size smaller or larger.
