Crinoidea
This is the last (for now) Knit-From-Stash pattern. Over the last 3 years, I have designed over 40 pairs of socks! Seriously.
Thank you for embarking on a stash busting experiment with me!
I actually think my stash shrunk a tiny bit…not nearly enough!
Crinoidea or Sea lily is a class of the echinoderms. The Crinoid fossils are called Satr Stones or Sea Lilies as they have floral or star shapes. The fossilized “stems” of Carboniferous crinoids become bead-like fossils that wash onto the beaches.
In medieval times theses “beads” were strung together as necklaces or rosaries, and became associated with St Cuthbert, so they were called Cuddy’s beads or St. Cuthbert’s beads. They were also known as “fairy money.”
