The weekend I met my husband’s parents, we ventured to a mountain town called Cripple Creek way up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This quiet little town was the site of a great mining boom in Colorado in the late 19th century, and apparently almost $11.2 billion of gold was extracted from the area. The town is now a bit sleepy, but my favorite part of it is the crisp mountain air, and the “feral” donkeys that wander the streets.

Veronica from Inspired FiberWorx helped me pick out the colors for this shawl -- the colors remind me of the warm fleece and flannel blankets that we used to stay warm while in that mountain town.

MEASUREMENTS
Depth: 42” (107 cm)
Wingspan: 84” (214 cm)
Size is easily adjustable (instructions within pattern)

GAUGE
15 sts / 22 rows = 4” / 10 cm in 1-color brioche stitch using US 5 (3.75 mm) needles after a light blocking

Exact gauge is not critical, rather create a fabric that you like. You can adjust the number of total rows you work to accomodate for using more/less yarn based upon a different gauge (instructions included).

RECOMMENDED YARN:
Silk Sock by Inspired Fiber Worx (50% SW Merino, 50% Silk; 438 yds 401 m; 3.5 oz 100 g)

• DC: Tigers Eye (2 Skeins - (approx 832 yds 760 m, 6.7 oz 190 g needed)
• LC: Rubelite (1 Skein - approx 416 380 m, 3.35 oz 95 g needed

NOTIONS:

• US 5 (3.75 mm) or size to obtain gauge and US 7 (4.5 mm) for the I-cord bind-off.
• Tapestry needle
• Row counter (optional)
• Stitch marker (1)
• Blocking pins/wires

One and two-color brioche, applied I-cord and I-cord bind off
