Criss Cross
From the Designer: Every time I wear this scarf/shawlette, I get compliments - from knitters and non-knitters alike. They all love that criss cross edging!
From the Pattern Description:
Narrower at the tips, wider in the center, this scarf can be made in a range of yarn weights, from fingering through worsted weight, offering finished lengths between 50” and 80”.
The scarf is constructed by working the bottom lace edging first, then picking up stitches for the stockinette body, working short rows to shape it. A final repeat of the lace border is worked at each end of the scarf at the same time as the top eyelet border. Written and charted instructions are provided for the lace borders, as well as a schematic guide to the construction.
Suitable for intermediate knitters willing to learn a few new techniques.
Photo tutorials are included for several unusual (but easy!) techniques.
Instructions are provided for two sizes. Finished measurements are dependent on yarn weight/needle size/gauge.
Fingering weight, US 5/3.75 mm needles, 5.5 sts/in. Finished measurements approx 52” or 64”.
Sport weight, US 7/4.5 mm needles, 5.0 sts/in. Finished measurements approx 58” or 69”.
Worsted weight, US 9/5.5mm needles, 4.5 sts/in. Finished measurements, approx 64” or 78”.
Recommend a very smooth yarn with a tight twist (see recommended yarns) for best stitch definition.
