As the weather gets warmer here, I wanted to design a pair of crocheted socks that were soft and fluffy, but also airy. That can be complicated with a crocheted sock. The crossed stitches really give strength to these socks, but also create small holes for breathability.

If you have a higher instep, or would like to have more room in the instep, you can consider going up a hook size for the heel and first 4 rounds of the heel decreases, then go back to the hook you were using for the foot. Also, a sock yarn that has more stretch to it will give a bit of extra room.
