Criss Cross Cool Weather Cowl
We needed to have a pattern for an event, and I wanted something unique for the crocheters, but I only wanted it to require one skein of yarn. Using a crossed treble crochet stitch, I came up with this cowl.
The cowl is worked even, not in a spiral.
The joining stitches will feel awkward, because they are. It almost wraps instead of just crossing, but it does work. The safety pin in the one photo indicates the seam, showing that it does block to blend well with the other “normally” crossed stitches.
To make the two colored version, simply work border rows and sc rows between the crossed stitch rows in Color A and all the crossed stitch rows in Color B.
I crochet tightly, and the test crocheter used a heavier yarn. Gauge is not crucial, as long as it fits over your head! You can also make it as tall/wide as you like by increasing or decreasing the number of crossed rows.
