Criss cross tunic
Knitted in two pieces with a flat braid crochet joining technique across the shoulders (and at the sides if desired).
This join creates a decorative element and ensures the garment is reversible.
It is a loose fit adult size with instructions on how to widen or lengthen the garment based on the measurements of the finished garment.
There are in fact four versions contained with in this pattern.
Two different styles and then for the two styles - variation in the fibre
STYLE 1 the TUNIC - designed to be worn longer and left open at the sides to open up the possibilities of wearing it - with belt or other fastening
Variation 1 - Two strands of wool held together
Variation 2 -Two strands of a cotton / linen blend which I hand dyed after construction
STYLE 2 the CROP - as the name implies it is shorter and is joined at the sides
Variation 1 - One strand of a bamboo / wool blend
Variation 2 - Two strands - handspun cotton (quite thick) and a fine sock yarn held together
So here’s the thing about the crochet join technique in a knitted pattern…
Now for those of you out there that say “I cannot make this as I am a knitter not a crocheter” - here is another way to look at it --> you can always use your preferred joining technique…but trust me once you master this technique you will not look back…and I love a bit of cross craft work - a knitted garment with crochet - join me in that adventure!
