By popular request, the Crochet Advent Baby Blanket now comes in a DK weight version!

Both crochet and yarn advent calendars have been steadily gaining popularity in recent years (yay!) and while there are many beautiful knitted patterns using advent yarn, crochet patterns designed specifically for advent yarn still seem harder to find. That’s why I created this easy to make and easy to find Crocheted Advent Baby Blanket!

This pattern is designed to make a baby blanket using a yarn advent calendar comprising 24 or 25 X 20g/45m (0.7oz/49yd) mini-skeins and 1 X 100g/224m (3.5oz/246yd) skein, all in DK weight/8ply yarn. The photographed example is made using the Vicki Brown Designs ombré fade club from March 2023 – July 2023, paired with 1 undyed skein of Knit Picks Swish DK. This pattern would also work using mini-skeins of scrap yarn and a contrasting main skein.

There are only 2 rows to memorise in this pattern, making it the perfect relaxing project for a busy time of year.

This blanket’s size makes it an ideal baby blanket, pram blanket, pet blanket, lap blanket, or a decorative throw. The finished dimensions of the blanket will be approximately 70cm X 85cm (27.5in X 33.5in) using 24 mini skeins, or 70cm X 88cm (27.5in X 34.5in) using 25 mini skeins
