Whatever plans you had for 2020 and beyond, it’s safe to assume that the global pandemic has trampled all over them. So why not represent the experience in crochet form, with covid motifs interrupting an otherwise Fair-Isle-like tapestry crochet hat.

One size: 28.5cm/11 1/4” across at brim when laid flat. To fit adult head.

Can be topped with either a pompom, or a 3-d crocheted covid, for which instructions are provided.

The hat is worked in the round using tapestry crochet, with two shades per round. Simple embroidery is then used to accentuate points on the covid motif in orange.

Yarn: Stylecraft Highland Heathers, one ball in each of the following shades: 3748 Thistle, 3743 Gorse, 3750 Grist, 3751 Loch, 3749 Shale, 3745 Wild Salmon, 3747 Bracken, 3752 Moss, 3744 Cairn, 3746 Thrift. Also, one ball of Stylecraft Life DK in shade 2312 Copper.
