This written pattern follows a specific basket, but includes plenty of notes to adjust the pattern to fit whatever oval or round basket you wish to cover.

Would work best over a wicker or woven type basket with a chunkier handle, but you can adjust this base pattern as needed.

I used pretty standard yarn and a larger hook to keep the stitches loose since I tend to crochet tight. You can adjust as you go to make it work for your needs.
