I have been wanting to make a shopper bag that doubles up as a clutch bag, so to make it more interesting I have designed it with a lovely lace and uncharacteristically of me, not on a solid colour but a colour way of lovely treys.

Please note this pattern is written in American standard terms.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials and notions:
175 gr light worsted weight yarn, I used ICE magic pure wool
Size hook US7 (4.5 mm)
Tapestry needle
Optional 24” of aluminium black chain, my chain is about 1cm (0.4 inch) long links.
To crochet the chain in place I used a crochet hook (2mm), this makes it easier to crochet the links in.

Abbreviations
ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
