Previously I posted instructions for knitted chicken and duck Easter egg cozies on ravelry and had requests for crocheted versions. Here are are the requested instructions.

These cozies are fast and easy to create, use small amounts of yarn (about half an oz per chicken or duck), and will make colorful traditions in your home for Easter. They take up very little room so you easily store them and bring them back out each year to add to the current year’s Easter baskets. You’ll probably want to make lots of chickens and ducks using all kinds of yarns in many color varieties.

How are these used? You just insert a hard boiled, plastic or candy egg into the opening on the under side and your little chicken or duck sits up happily in Easter grass in the basket protecting its secret stash.

Suggestions: for little ones, fill plastic eggs with candies, stickers and small surprises, or maybe a silly putty egg. For older kids, put some money, jewelry or hair accessories into an egg.
