Crocheted Man - Cowl
After trying out my neckwarmer in the polar-pocalypse that hit the area this weekend, my husband wanted me to make him a neckwarmer/cowl. He picked a heavy boucle yarn from the yarn hoard stash, and I couldn’t find a pattern that I liked & that would work with the yarn. Also, he wanted it to be made in rounds (instead of vertically like my neckwarmer), so I improvised. I started with a few rows of hdc, then went to alternating sc & hdc for a smidge of textural interest (hard to see but you can feel it) & to keep center of the neck warmer a bit tighter/warmer.
The pattern yields a neckwarmer/cowl with a circumference of about 23” and a height of about 9”. I crochet tightly though, so perhaps my 64 stitches is more like your 55 stitches. SO, that being said, I’d suggest that after getting to about 55-60 stitches in the fhdc, you measure & test the size to check for the right number of stitches. I found that using some stitch markers to join together the ends of that fhdc row to the right size was really helpful in finding the snug fit that DH wanted.
Enjoy the pattern!
