Crocheted sock yarn square
When I searched for patterns for a Temperature Blanket KAL/CAL 2016, I came across this great one by Shelly Kang (The Heathen Housewife). Sadly, I discovered I can’t knit fast enough to make a square every day. But! That was also the birth of Sock Yarn Square, the Crochet Version! It has everything I like about the knitted version: a great drape, sock yarn, and an interesting ridge in the middle.
Note: to make this work, I had to pull quite a few tricks out of my hat. I tried to explain as clearly as possible, but I’d still call this pattern ‘advanced’. To make things a bit easier, I’ve provided detailed written instructions, some photo tutorials and a full chart.
The specified yarn is an example. You can use any sock yarn you like, as long as it’s all about the same thickness. This would be a great stash buster project. Join the squares as you see fit for a blanket of any width and/or height you like! :)
If you go to my website, you can print the pattern or save it as a PDF. Comment there for feedback, questions, remarks, and I’ll be sure to see it. Happy crocheting!
