This cowl starts out as a top down / center out triangle, but is joined to become a cowl when the top edge is just long enough to fit around the wearer’s head. The main stitch pattern is a simple two row repeat that shows off the gradient effect of the suggested yarn (Schachenmayr Tahiti) beautifully. The cowl is finished with a three row lace pattern to add a feminine touch, and then scallops are added around the neck edge.

A more masculine variation can be made using Kollage Riveting Sport. Simply continue working the main stitch pattern, without adding the lace edging, until you are happy with the size.

The pattern instructions are written out in standard crochet format, but for the convenience of more visual crocheters a hand-drawn chart is included as well. Please forgive the poor drawing - the designer is much better with yarn than with pens.

This cowl was designed as a one-skein project, and could easily be adapted for sock yarn or other light weight yarns. Simply change the hook size as needed for your yarn.
