CROCHETED Wrist Distaff
This the Original Pocketed Wrist Distaff Pattern with a Crocheted cuff (for the wrist) and a Crocheted attached fiber pocket, which will hold the fiber being spun, to keep it out of harm’s way. This prevents the unspun fiber from becoming entangled with the spun singles. The reason for the TWO pockets is to also keep the fiber away from the skin. These are US crochet stitches, not UK.
Mine was done with Knit Picks “Simple Stripes” which is 75% Superwash wool and 25% Nylon/Polyamide, a fingering weight yarn. You may use this or any of your favorite fingering weight yarns. You will need aprox 50-60 yards of yarn to complete one Wrist Distaff.
I didn’t list gauge because the pattern takes into account the differences between a tight and a loose crocheter.
- Crochet Hooks: US size C (2.5mm) and D (3.0mm)
- Yarn needle to weave in ends and stitch fiber pocket end to cuff.
There will be a total of three patterns…this one, which is completely crocheted…a completely knitted version…and a version that has the wrist cuff knitted and the fiber pocket crocheted.
